Samuel Dong Saul is a Mexican Artist and Educator based in Greeley, Colorado. For the last decade he has used his love for Mexican pop culture and illustration to create imagery that links his latin roots. The series named Para Mi Madre are illustrations made while staying with his mother while she was battling cancer. These drawings were made with the hope that one day she could color them herself after beating the disease. He completed the series to honor her death and with the wish that she will come and visit to see the work he drew just for her.

Durante la última década, ha usado su amor por la cultura popular mexicana y sus ilustraciones para crear imágenes que lo vinculan con sus raíces latinas. Su ultima serie Para Mi Madre, son ilustraciones hechas mientras estaba junto a su madre durante su batalla con el cáncer. Los dibujos fueron hechos con la esperanza que élla los pudiese colorear después de vencer la enfermedad. El completo los dibujos en honor a su muerte y para invitarla durante este día para que vea las ilustraciones que terminó solo para ella.

Alonzo Harrison is a visual artist from Colorado. Born in Trinidad and raised in Greeley. From a young age he knew that illustration was his calling. With no formal art education he has sought to explore the human figure and portraiture as a way of both learning about the world around him and as a form of self exploration. His collection of illustrations here at the Tointon Gallery explores his Mexican American roots, the meaning of family, childhood memories and his own relationship with mortality. Life and death are neither good nor bad, they simply exist and we give them meaning. For all of us, in some form or another, our cultures help color that meaning.

Alonzo Harrison es un artista visual de Colorado. Nacido en Trinidad y criado en Greeley. Desde muy joven, supo que la ilustración era su vocación. Sin educación artística formal, ha buscado la figura humana y el retrato para así aprender acerca del mundo a su alrededor y explorarlo por sí mismo. Felisha Bustos works with a variety of media. Her works can be described as vibrant, colorful, and she is inspired by the beauty she sees in nature and in people. Her passion is to empower others and to create spaces where people can authentically connect with themselves and others. Felisha teaches private art lessons, group art classes, and has taught art with Greeley/Evans District 6. A muralist, she works independently and also collaboratively with students. She recently worked on a large-scale mural in the Student Commons of Aims Community College in Greeley. Felisha resides in Greeley, Colorado and is a student at the School of Art and Design at the University of Northern Colorado, expecting to complete her Bachelors Degree in Art with an emphasis in painting in 2024.

Felisha da clases de arte privadas, clases de arte en grupo y ha enseñado arte en el Distrito 6 de Greeley/Evans. Puede trabaja de forma independiente y también en colaboración con los estudiantes. Helen Villarreal is a professional Ceramic Artist working and living in Greeley, Colorado. Her work focuses on exploring color, texture and patterns found in different aspects of nature. Helen has been creating art part-time for over 15 years. She received her Bachelor degree from the University of Northern Colorado, in Art and Design with Ceramic Studio emphasis. She is currently the Studio Tech in the Art Department at Aims Community College, and through their Continuing Education Department teaches community art/ceramics classes to community members.

Using a combination of wheel thrown, hand built and slip casting techniques, she creates work inspired by nature and the human form. Disembodied (Large, 1) & Disembodied (Small, 1) represent feelings of disconnection and deep despair. These two works are the first of several more editions to come examining the human form, emotional state and the inner self. The artist describes the process of creating her work as a cathartic experience and by using color, form and texture she is able to express it visually.

Su arte se centra en explorar el color, la textura y los patrones que se encuentran en diferentes aspectos de la naturaleza. Helen Ha estado creando arte a tiempo parcial durante más de 15 años. Recibió su título de Licenciatura de la Universidad del Norte de Colorado, en Arte y Diseño con énfasis en Estudio de Cerámica. Ella es el Studio Tech en el Departamento de Arte de Aims Community College, y a través de su Departamento de Educación Continua imparte clases comunitarias de arte/cerámica a la comunidad Miembros.

Utilizando una combinación de técnicas de lanzamiento de ruedas, construcción manual y fundición deslizante, crea obras inspirado en la naturaleza y la forma humana. Incorpóreo (Grande, 1) y Incorpóreo (Pequeño, 1) representan sentimientos de desconexión y profunda desesperación. Frank Garza has been creating public art installations in Colorado since 1999. Specializing in architecturally integrated pieces, he strives to make each project unique. Frank uses several mediums including wood, steel, aluminum, porcelain, glass, polycarbonate, fabric, and integrated LED lighting. His works convey community, cultural, and historical themes.

This mural depicts a young woman showing pride in her culture and history which is displayed in the background via archeological imagery representing Olmec, Toltec, Mayan, and Aztec. Her Gestures symbolize empowerment, acceptance, and an offering of peace while a quetzal bird is majestically behind her. This is an example of a mural technique which is painted on acrylic embedded fabric panels and later installed permanently at a given location.

Frank Garza ha estado creando instalaciones de arte público en Colorado desde 1999. Especializando en piezas integradas en arquitectura, se esfuerza por hacer que cada proyecto sea único. Frank utiliza varios medios incluyendo madera, acero, aluminio, porcelana, vidrio, policarbonato, tela y iluminación LED integrada. Sus obras transmiten comunitarios, culturales y históricos temas.

Iván Díaz is an innovative, versatile, and high-energy photographer of 14 years in Northern Colorado. As one of few bilingual photographers in Northern Colorado, he is known for his collaborative approach with clients and best known for his unique eye and use of creative angles. Iván has honed his skills as a photographer through various experiences such as wedding/engagement, family/newborn/pet portraits, senior/graduation photos, concert/event, website promotion, and photo journalism.

He is an award winning and published photographer who works closely with community organizations, non-profit organizations, local businesses, colleges and universities and more! Collaborations over the years include entities such as, The Latino Leadership Institute, University of Northern Colorado, Community College of Aurora, and CU-Denver among others. He has also collaborated with Thunder Mountain Amphitheater as lead photographer for the Under the Sun Tour and the Up in Smoke Tour, photographing artists such as Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray, and WAR to name a few. Most recently, Ivan was appointed as lead magazine photographer to commemorate Community College of Aurora’s 40th Anniversary.

With over a decade of experience, Iván has traveled far and near to capture stories through his lens, whether it be on the Native American Reservations, or in the studio doing professional headshots.

With every session, the goal is to convey emotion and authenticity by connecting with the people he photographs. Iván likes to think that the greatest skill he brings to a photo shoot has nothing to do with cameras or lighting, but with the empathy and respect for the people who trust in him to tell their stories.

Tony Pinedo is a printmaking artist based out of Greeley, Colorado, and is a member at Wonderhand Studios. He is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado, has been teaching for 16 years, and is currently the STEAM teacher at Tointon Academy of Pre-Engineering. Besides printmaking, he is a local musician for the band Ramblers’ Guild; and enjoys creating digital art, laser engraving, and 3D printing.

“La Lotería” was inspired by the artist’s childhood memories of playing the game as a family and the vivid artwork of the cards. A laser engraver was used in the image transfer process to keep the designs as close to the cards they remembered as a kid. After that, it’s up to interpretation to gouge away and create unique images in the woodcut medium, hand embellishing them to add vibrance, and making no two alike.

Tony Pinedo es un artista de grabado que vive en Greeley, Colorado, y es miembro de Wonderhand Studios. Se graduó de la Universidad del Norte de Colorado, ha estado enseñando durante 16 años y actualmente es profesor de STEAM en la Academia de Preingeniería Tointon. “La Lotería” se inspiró en los recuerdos de la infancia del artista cuando jugaba en familia y en el vívido arte de las cartas. Se utilizó un grabador láser en el proceso de transferencia de imágenes para mantener los diseños lo más parecidos a las tarjetas que recordaban cuando eran niños. Después de eso, depende de la interpretación extraer y crear imágenes únicas en el medio grabado en madera, embellecerlas a mano para agregarles vitalidad y no hacer dos iguales.
