Jackson Lake State Park Mural Project
Seeking Student Artists
Jackson Lake State Park is seeking up to 10 talented student artists to transform park utility buildings into high-impact, permanent public mural art installations.
This state-commissioned project will contribute directly to Jackson Lake’s national recognition as a Leave No Trace (LNT) Gold Standard Site. Commissioned artwork will educate thousands of visitors on preserving the local landscape.
The Commission
Artists may submit one or more concepts and will be compensated for each selected piece.
7 Murals: Dedicated to the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace, tailored to Jackson Lake’s unique ecosystem
3 Murals: Dedicated to the local culture, heritage, and agricultural history of Northeast Colorado
Artist Benefits
$1,000 Honorarium per completed mural.
Materials Provided: All professional-grade paints, primers, brushes, and UV/anti-graffiti sealants will be provided by the park. Artists may keep any brushes and select materials used, if desired, after project completion.
Recognition: A permanent plaque acknowledging the artist, the principal, and their school is applicable.
Career Milestone: A state-commissioned, large-scale public art piece on your professional resume.

A Color Sketch: A rough draft of your vision for the chosen theme(s)
Artist Statement (1 Paragraph): Explaining how your design encourages park visitors to care for the land
Portfolio Sample: 2–3 photos of previous work (any medium)
